Writing Alone and with Others: An AWA Method-based Retreat

Our 2025 retreats at Jericho were so marvelous, we’re coming back this year!

In May and September of 2026, we’ll be returning to Jericho House in the Welland/Niagara region of southwestern Ontario. (Click HERE for a powerpoint slideshow of Jericho House).

In these AWA Method Retreats, participants will have lots of time for self-guided work on the projects they bring. AND there will also be three OPTIONAL group sessions offered each day.

In the late morning we have generative writing sessions in the AWA method, including the immediate strengths-based feedback that is so nourishing and affirming to the first drafts of our work.

In the late afternoon, we have communal times of powerful production using the Pomodoro method.

And in the evenings there is an opportunity to read a piece of your work to the group and get more specific feedback. (Participants will have an opportunity to sign up to read once during these evening feedback sessions over the week.)

Additionally, during the week you may request a private conference with Sue or James to discuss your work, your project, or whatever else you have questions about.

In these retreats, Inkslingers strives to find the ideal balance to nurture the body, the mind and the writing. All group activities are optional, with lots of time for reading, walking, napping, and conversation.

The beginning of May is a little early and the end of September is a little late for swimming, but Lake Erie is close by for the polar bears in the crowd! (In 2023 in October a number of us were swimming in the warm, post-summer waters on the Erie shore about a 10 minute walk south of the retreat centre.)

At Jericho House, each participant gets a comfortable single room with a private bathroom and a desk. All meals are provided. (All dietary restrictions must be registered at least two weeks before the retreat).
 
 
 
 

2026 Registration and Pricing:

7 day retreat: May 10-16, 2026

(Total Price: $1,525 +tax).
 

5 day retreat: September 21-25, 2026

(Total Price: $1,025 +tax).
 
A fully refundable $250 deposit will hold your spot in the September 21-25 (5 day) Retreat. (Final payment due by August 21st)
