Cedric Awards contest for B.C. writers

Deadline: May 1, 2016

Contest is for unpublished B.C. seniors, aged 50 and up.

The second annual Cedric Awards invites seniors to submit their unpublished fiction and creative non-fiction and poetry by May 1 into the competition.

“Unpublished BC writers aged 50 and better can submit their work,” said Veronica Osborn, Cedric’s executive director. “If last year’s competition is anything to go by, we know this year’s competition will attract a high level of interest in this first-in-Canada writing program.”

Last year, there were 168 submissions. The writers will compete for one of the $3,000 prizes awarded in four categories.

The contest is not limited to English-speaking writers and invites French and First Nations writers to participate as they did last year.

“We are changing the landscape of literary awards programs in Canada by providing a unique platform to recognize and reward unpublished English and French-speaking authors of fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry, and First Nations writers, aged 50 and better,” said Peter Dale, Cedric’s founder.

Authors interested in taking part in the 2016 Cedric Literary Awards should log on to the website at www.thecedrics.ca or email Veronica at vosborn@thecedrics.ca.
