2010 08 26 – Today’s Writing Prompt

Pick up a magazine or a newspaper. Choose a picture that appeals to you of someone in the magazine.

Interview that person asking them the following questions:

What did/do you want to be when you grow up?

What’s wrong with your life these days?

What would it take for you to be happy?

What’s one thing you’ve never told anyone?

Write the answers to those questions as if you were that person (writing in the “I” voice). Give each question at least 5 minutes of writing without stopping.

When you’re done, ask yourself: is this a new character in something I’m working on?

Is this a new story? Is this an old story? Is it mine or someone else’s? How could I tell this story?
